"Charity begins at home and women are the real creators of home". This is the ultimate objective of the people who established a women's college in the remote rural area like village Kantia in the district of Khordha in the name and style of Sri Somanath Balunkeswar Dev Mahila Junior Mahavidyalaya, Kantia, Jatni, Khordha. The aim of the donor of the institution, Sri Suresh Kumar Rautaray, (five times MLA of his home constituency of Legislative Assembly, Jatni and two times Minister in the Govt. of Odisha) was to nourish and establish the inherent talents of village living girls and bring the mud-covered intellects of young women of the said area.

     With a noble cause to blossom the hidden creativity of the young girls, explore their urge to learn and prove them in the limelight, the donor along with the others pioneered the institution to go ahead with its goal.

     The dream of the donor certainly proved to be materialized as the institution has been notified as an aided educational institution by Govt. of Odisha in pursuance to the Odisha (Non-Govt. Colleges, Junior Colleges & Higher Secondary Schools) Grant-in-Aid Order 2008.

Still the job is not complete as we believe, "Miles to go before we sleep".
