Bantala, Situated in a quiet place 14 kms. away from Angul the district headquarter,Sri Chandrasekhar Mahavidyalaya,Bantala is a landmark in the educational development of Angul Block in particular and the district in general, imparting higher education in Arts and Science. This mega institution was established in 1982, the foundation stone laid by Dr .Hrushikesh Panda(IAS), the then S.D.O.of Angul,with the yeoman's service rendered by founding fathers like Late Sri Lambodar Pradhan, Late Sri Banshidhar Dwivedy, Sri Suresh Chandra Sahu , Sri Harihar Kar, Sri Satyananda Nanda, Sri Nityananda Choudhury ,Sri Kailash Ch.Pradhan,Sri Trilochan Pradhan,Sri Niranjan Dehury, Late Sri Dibakar Nanda,Sri Jayakrishna Sarangi ,Sri Suresh Chandra Pradhan,Sri Dharanidhar Sahu,Sri Nilamani Pradhan,Late Sri Pranabandhu Majhi,Sri Debaraj Sahu,Late Sri Swapneswar Sarangi ,Sri Brajabandhu Sahu, Sri Tarakeswar Pradhan, Late Sri Nishanath Dehury, Sri Akhaya Kumar Dehury, Late Sri Ekadasi Pradhan, Sri Kumuda Chandra Pradhan, Late Sri Narayan Dehury, Late Sri Narayan Naik,late Sri Janak Pradhan, Sri Maheswar Sahu, Sri Rabinarayan Sahu, Sri Trilochan Singhsamant, Sri Pramod Kumar Kar, Sri Ajaya Kumar Pradhan and Sri Bhagirathi Majhi etc. However, its steady improvement began when the Ex- Principal ,Sri Banshidhar Pradhan took charge of the college.Since then the college has no looking back .The institution obtained its Govt. concurrence in 1986 and was affiliated to the CHSE,Odisha in 1987-88.The science stream was introduced in 1989-90.Over the years,the college has grown from its initial students strength of 128 to 256 in each stream. At present, the college imparts teaching in subjects like Pol.Sc., History, Economics, Sanskrit, Education, Sociology, Logic, Math and Home science in Arts and Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics Geography, Geology and IT in Science stream and has obtained permanent concurrence in both the streams.

     The College runs in a two -storeyed building having green gardens with well-equipped classrooms and laboratories The college library with 10,000 books has been the main stay of learning for the pupils and the teachers The college provides hostels both for girls and boys accommodating around 450 boarders.

     Not with standing the vast sprawling campus holds out promises for future expansion. Efforts are on to make the college a premier centre of higher education in the district.
