Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Champua is situated in Champua, the Sub-Divisional headquarter situated a few yards away from the holiest river of Odisha, "The Baitarani" It is situated 50 K.Ms away from Keonjhar, the District headquarters, it stands out near the boarder between Odisha & Jharkhand to serve as a bacon light to the economically backward & principally tribal humanity inhabiting the neighbourhood.
The long cherished vision of the conscious public materialised as the college came into being on 6th Sept-1996.Thanks to untiring efforts & initiative of the then Hon'ble M.L.A. Mr. Dhanurjay Laguri who could focus the public attention on the general need of higher education & undertook adventure in founding the college. Though late, by the popular will and craze for higher education, college was established to uphold women's education in such a ST, SC populated backward area.
It was housed in the Mahatab High School, Champua premises & later shifted to its newly constructed building at Ramla, Champua in 2011.This marked the beginning of the real growth of this college & since then the development of this institution has been phenomenal all over the years.
It started functioning with 58 students on its roll & there were just 06 teachers and 05 non-teaching staff members with only I.A. Classes with Compulsory Subjects M.I.L(O) and English and Optional Subjects as Economics, Political Science, Home Science and Sociology . The college got permission of he Higher Education Department Odisha from the session 2001-02 and is on it's way of progress with the active co-operation of the honourable M.P.(Lok Sabha), Keonjhar Sri Yashobant Narayan Singh Laguri. In the meantime office automation and a good library is at our hand with the sincerity and enthusiasm of the members of the Staff, we dream of a College which can fulfil the aspirations of the Public and students of the locality.
