About Saraswat Degree Mahavidyalaya Godbhaga Sambalpur

Saraswat Degree Mahavidyalaya came into existence with the sustained efforts and active involvement of local people at Godbhaga under Dhankauda Block, District-Sambalpur in the year 1996. The institution got its first temporary recognition and affiliation by the Govt. of Odisha and  ambalpur University respectively in the session 1997-98. The D.H.E, Govt. of Odisha accorded its permanent recognition in the session 2003-04 and Sambalpur University also accorded its permanent affiliation in the same session. Moreover, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has been pleased to accord 2f status to our college. The institution received its opening permission in the subject Political Science (Hons) with 16 seats and got temporary recognition and affiliation by the Govt. of Odisha & Sambalpur University respectively. This subject was permanently recognized and affiliated in the session 2008-09.

It is a co-educational +3 Arts (Degree) institution having 128 seats in the subject MIL (Odia), English, History, Political Science, and Education. It offers elective subjects like Indian Polity, Landmark in Indian History and Education. Besides it offers Indian Society & Culture and Environmental Studies.

At present, it is managed by Governing Body duly approved by R.D.E. Sambalpur and is likely to receive 40% Block Grant in the shape of Grant-In-Aid by Govt. of Odisha 2008.

The present student strength of the college is 378 where the enrollment of girl students is higher than the boys. Six numbers of faculty member and five numbers of non-teaching staff are working in this institution.
