The Anandapur College
is situated on the bank of the sacred river Baitarani Keonjhar Orissa . Anandapur
college has completed 48 years of its existence, fulfilling the long cherished
desire of the people of the Sub- division for higer education. The pioneering
efforts of Sri A.C.Dehury, the then S.D.O. Anandapur, benevolent efforts of
some young gentlemen of the locality, generous contributions of the people of
Anandapur and financial help received from all he Panchayats under the
sub-division made the long cherished dream of the public of the locality a
reality.
Anandapur college originally
started functioning in Anand Bhawan, the Town Hall of Anandapur ,
in the month of July, 1964 with strength of only 90 students and 6 lectures.
After about three years the College was shifted to the present site where a number of
buildings are come up.
The college has
been making steady progress in all respects due to the efficient management of
the successive Governing Bodies, various aids received from the State
Government and co-operation of the people of the subdivision. It is now a
full-fledged degree college in Arts, Science & Commerce with Honours
teaching facilities in English, Odia, Economics, History, Political Science,
Sanskrit, Philosophy, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Botany, and Zoology
& Commerce. The strength of students and teachers has considerably
increased during the years.
The college has
now only one hostel for the girls, although there were two other previously for
one for boys and the other for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe students.
The college has also
been providing sustainable support to a large number of Scholar from among the
teachers in their research activities. Over the years a good number of teachers
of this college have been awarded with M. Phil and Ph. D Degrees in Arts,
Science, and Commerce streams. Many teachers at present are engaged in higher
research work.
The college has
been accredited as a "B" grade college during the academic session
2005 - 06 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an
autonomous wing of the UGC. There is one unit of N.C.C. and Red Cross each and
two units of N.S.S., one for the boys and the other for girls. There is a fully
functional SAMS laboratory, a good library, computer and internet facilities
and well equipped laboratories in this college. In spite of several other wants
and braving different odds, this institution has emerged as a premier center
for learning.
