About MLA Womens Junior College, Kantabanji, Balangir
MLA Women's College, Kantabanji was founded in the year 1993 on the initiative of the local intelligentsia led by Sri Santosh Singh Saluja, the then Chairman of N.A.C., Kantabanji. He was supported by the people of Kantabanji irrespective of caste, creed, sex and religion. Since women's education was the need of the hour this initiative got immediate approval from all corners and soon it became an established educational institution. It got govt. recognition in the year 1994 and subsequently CHSE affiliation for both Arts and Commerce streams with 64 seats each. There are subjects such as English, Odia, both compulsory and optional, Hind compulsory, Logic, History, Political Science, Economics in Arts and all the Commerce subjects in +2 Commerce.
The College was notified as an aided educational institution w.e.f.01/02/2009 and all the staff members are eligible to receive Block Grant salary from the Government. Since its inception it has been striving to provide higher education to women who otherwise remained deprived of. This college created history in the very first year when one of its commerce students found a place in the best ten of the Council. Since then many students of this college have been well placed in different spheres of life and have been working as the brand ambassador of this institution.
Besides the regular curriculum, it also undertakes various co-curricular activities for the all-round development of the student and promotion of Art, Culture, Games and Sports etc.
