About Siddheshwar College Amarda Road Balasore

The origin of the college dates to 1980 some generous personalities of Armada Road, took lively interest to set up an institution for higher studies.the contribution of Smt. Tillottama Devi, the Mmaharani of Mayurbhanj is quite encouraging, they named this institution after "BABA SIDDHESWAR" the presiding deity of Amrda Road since then it has flourished significantly over the years from amere 48 students in the year 1980 it has reached 1700.

The College is situated on the Borders of Balasore and Mayurbhanj Districts. It is located near S.E.Rly. Station and the bus stop that links, these two districts.

Within a span of thirty one years, the institution has acquired a two storeyed building for lecture theatres. Laboratories and office adjacent to it an administrative Block. A vocational building has been constructed by the Govt. for spread of vocational education. Boundary walls and Plantation in side the campus enhance the beauty. Further, the financial assistance has been received by the U.G.C.towards library. Laboratory and for the construction of class rooms ladies hostel during the 10^th and 11^th five year plan.

Academic history of the college records that, it was initially affiliated to Utkal University in 1980 with a sanctioned strength of 64 seats in intermediate of Arts & Science. But now the sanctioned strength is 256 in +2 Arts. 192 in +2 Science and 64 in +2 Commerce. Traditional Degree Classes in Arts and Science. Were opened in 1984 with 64 seats in B.A and 48 seats in B.Sc. (32 for PCM and 16 for CBZ). But it has increased to 128 in +3 Arts and 112 in +3 Science in 1997-98. +3 Commerce stream with 32 seats is opened from the session 2009-10 now the degree wings of the college function under F.M.University.

It is a full-fledged Degree college which provides Teaching facilities for Honors in History, Economics, Pol. Science, Odia, English, Education, Philosophy, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany &Zoology. It has two NSS wings, one for Boys and other for girls. So also youth Red Cross functions here with two units, one for boys and other for girls. Now the staff of the college consists of a Principal, 28 Lecturers, 1 P.E.T. 9 Demonstrators and 32 Non-teaching Staff.

The Thirty one years old mother institution of ours has 1700 students in its lap. It has a long history of thirty one years and miles ahead. Lord Siddheswar is our Almighty God and Himalaya is the vision. Let us all work together to take this holy institution to a greater height of glory and celebrity and stop not till the goal is achieved.
