The Raj Chaunria College is located at Kodinga Gram Panchayat in Kodinga Revenue village which is connected with all weather road from District Headquarters. The College is 35 KM away from District Headquarter. The College is coming under Sub-Plan area of the District. The College is only one college of the Kosagumuda Block and Old Kodinga Assembly Constituency having 24 Gram Panchayats. As per the 2001 census, the population of this block is 134669 of which 84338 are ST, 15443 are SC and 34888 are of others.
Sri Sadan Nayak, Hon'ble Ex- MLA, Kodinga is the founding father of the Raj Chaunria College, Kodinga. The students of this area were facing lots of problem to take higher education after completing the Secondary Education course. People of this area are very poor maximum numbers of people of this area are daily labourers. It is too hard to get a meal per day on their part. In this juncture they are unable to give their children higher education. Keeping in view of this in a village meeting at Kodinga Sri Sadan Nayak, Hon'ble Ex- MLA proposed his view to establish a Junior College at Kodinga. The villagers named Sri Motising Majhi, Sri Dinabandhu Nayak, Sri Akrura Baliar Singh, Sri Paramananda Khosla, Sri Dharam Singh expressed their co-operative views & extended their helping hands to establish a Junior College at Kodinga. Finally in the name village god "RAJA CHAUNRIA "the college is named as Raj Chaunria College, Kodinga. Then a committee was formed and registered as per Societies Registration act 1860 and the College had functioned from 13th August 1997.
The college was started functioning from 13th August 1997 in the premises of Govt. TRW High School, Kodinga. On 25th August the College had inaugurated by Sri Habibulla Khan, former Hon'ble Minister of Civil & Supply Govt. of Orissa. In the innaguration meeting Sri Sadan Nayak, Hon'ble MLA, Kodinga expressed his views on establishment of College & its future development.
The College started with 53 nos. of students 6 teachers & 3 nos. of nonteaching staff with +2 Arts classes having English, MIL (O), History, Political- Science, Education & Economics subjects. At Present there are 402 nos. of students reading in our College,6 nos. of teaching staff and 5 nos. of Non-teaching staffs are rendering their services for the all round development of the institutions. The College has also obtained Recognition & affiliation from the competent authority from the year 1998.
