Government . Autonomous College started as Kalahandi ,Orissa Science College from 18th July 1960 and continued as a Pvt. College till 30.11.1961. It was taken over by the Government of Orissa on 1.12.1961. It was then renamed as Govt. Science College, Bhawanipatna. With its vertical academic growth the College was conferred with Autonomous Status in 2002 and now it has added a new feather to its cap - the status of "College with potential fro Excellence". In 2005 the College was accredited by NAAC with Grade "B++".
