Paramananda College Bolagarh Khurda

About Paramananda College Bolagarh Khurda

The hope of bringing enlightenment of higher education to this area became materialised with the gracious hand and sagacious mind of Late Sri Bhaskar Chandra Mohapatra, the founder Secretary of the Governing Body and due to the effective guidance and pioneering efforts of Prof. Baidyanath Mishra, the renowned Economist and the founder President of the Governing Body. The foundation of the college was laid on 5th September 1981 and it was inaugurated by Sri Janaki Ballava Pattanaik, the then Chief Minister of Odisha.
The college owes a lot to the great sons of this soil like Sri Kailash Ch. Mohapatra, Sri Akshaya Kumar Pattanaik, Sri Rabindra Kumar Parida, Sri Upendra Singh, Sri Chakradhar Mohapatra, Sri Basudev Pattanaik and others.
The present Paramananda College is named after Sri Paramananda Mohapatra, a great generous soul, a renowned social worker and vanguard of educational activities in this area and in whose endeavour now stands Baman High School with pride and glory.
Paramananda College, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say, grew its wings under the motherhood of Paramananda College of Education, the 1st Private College for B.Ed in Odisha. Paramananda college started as a science college having fifty six students in intermediate stage in the year 1981. It got it's affiliation for +2 Arts and Science in the session 1983-84 and the affiliation for +3 Science Degree class was obtained in the session 1985-86. Further the college got it's affiliation for +3 Arts Degree class in the session 1987-88 from Utkal University.
This college is surrounded by green mango groves with the greenish-blue hills standing proudly like great sentinels at the southern side. It is happily ensconced besides NH-224 site running from Bhubaneswar to Raipur (Chhatisgarh). At a distance of only 77 kms from the state capital and very near to the border of Nayagarh district. The college is cradled at Bolgarh, a place of much historical significance in Khurda district.
Now the college provides teaching facilities in the subjects like English, Oriya, Political Science, History, Education, Sanskrit, Philosophy, Economics, Psychology and Sociology in Arts stream & Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Mathematics in the Science stream. The college has been able to extend teaching honours facilities in Pol Sc, History, Education, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & likely to get in other subjects.
The college has had a steady march and celebrated its silver jubilee in the year 2005. NAAC accreditation peer team visited the college on 9th & 10th February 2006 and it is a pride that college was able to get 'B' grade by NAAC. The college is also able to receive UGC grants under 2F & 12B.
As time marches on many of our dreams have been materialized one after another and we hope with all earnestness that the others will crystallized in the near future. Let the benign God help the college soar higher and higher and reach the heaven of success with all strength and stamina.
