The hope of bringing enlightenment of higher education to this area became materialised with the gracious hand and sagacious mind of Late Sri Bhaskar Chandra Mohapatra, the founder Secretary of the Governing Body and due to the effective guidance and pioneering efforts of Prof. Baidyanath Mishra, the renowned Economist and the founder President of the Governing Body. The foundation of the college was laid on 5th September 1981 and it was inaugurated by Sri Janaki Ballava Pattanaik, the then Chief Minister of Odisha.
The college owes a lot to the great sons of this soil like Sri Kailash Ch. Mohapatra, Sri Akshaya Kumar Pattanaik, Sri Rabindra Kumar Parida, Sri Upendra Singh, Sri Chakradhar Mohapatra, Sri Basudev Pattanaik and others.
The present Paramananda College is named after Sri Paramananda Mohapatra, a great generous soul, a renowned social worker and vanguard of educational activities in this area and in whose endeavour now stands Baman High School with pride and glory.
Paramananda College, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say, grew its wings under the motherhood of Paramananda College of Education, the 1st Private College for B.Ed in Odisha.
