 Rourkela Women's College, Rourkela was started in 1980 by a private management at sector-4 with teaching facility in Arts and Science at the Higher Secondary and Degree Stage. On 01.02.1989 Rourkela Women's College Rourkela was taken over by Govt. of Odisha and was named as Sushilavati Govt. Women's College (MS), Sector-4, Rourkela.

     As per the DHE Govt. of Odisha Notification no 29412/HE dt. 18.05.2001 S.G. Women's College (MS) has been redesignated as S.G. Women's Jr. College, Rourkela. The College has track record of brilliant academic performance.
