Khallikote (Autonomous) College, Berhampur, Ganjam is a premier Educational Institution in the State of Odisha with a glorious past, vibrant present and aspires to become a deemed university. This citadel of learning stands as beacon of knowledge and wisdom. It has earned name and fame at the national level by the creditable achievements of its students and staff.

The College was established in 1878 and was affiliated to the famous Madras University. Then in 1944 it was affiliated to Utkal University of Odisha and since 1967 it has been affiliated to the Berhampur University. This is the second oldest college established in the State of Odisha, which has evolved into a symbol of learning and culture in South Odisha. The population of this region has a large tribal component averaging more than 46%. As such this College has been catering to the dreams and aspirations of the varied group of students drawn from different sections of this region for more than 130 years.

The College was managed under a private trust until 1971. In March 1971 the College Management was taken over by the Government of Orissa. Autonomy was conferred on it in 1990. This is the 1st NAAC accredited College of the Odisha State, and was awarded B+ grade by the NAAC, Bangalore in 2003. It has been recognized as College with Potential for Excellence by UGC in May 2006.

The College has the distinction of producing eminent personalities like the former President of India, late V. V. Giri, Vice admiral H. L. Sarma, Ex-Governor late Biswanath Das, Justice late B. Jagannath Das of Supreme Court of India and Chief Justice of Orissa late Lingaraj Panigrahi. The former Minister of State for Rural Development, Govt. of India, Sri Chandra Sekhar Sahu was also a student of this College, so also the former Miss India, Celena Jetily. In addition a host of Judges, Scientists, Engineers, Civil Servants, Defense personnel, Academicians, Managers, Political Leaders, Social workers are the alumini of this glorious Institution.
