Women's College, Khurda situated in Jujarsingh Mouja under Khurda Municipality has a unique place in the locality as the only one institution of higher education for Women in the district head quarters. It was established on 21st December, 1981 by the sincere cooperation and selfless dedication of a group of conscious local people of whom we can respect fully remember few notable names as Eng. Willam Nayak, Advocate R.N. Burma, J.N. Mitra, MLA, Khurda, Maj K.P. Mohanty, Ex-vice Chancellor, North Orissa University, Mrs Bidyut Prava Burma, Dr. P.K. Patsani, M.P., Khurda as the founder members and the most revered name of Dr. K.P. Mangaraj, the initiator as well as the first Secretary of the College governing body.
The college is situated in a very convenient location from the communication point of view. Khurda Road railway station in only at a distance of 12 Km., NH-5 runs at a distance of ½ Km. providing the maximum communication facilities to the staff, Students and the visitors. The Bus stop and Auto Stand are also at a neighboring distance as an additional communication facility for girl students far and near.
The place of its location has a great historical importance as "Gadakhordha" the symbol of the great heritage of Orissa's history raising its high head, though in a dilapidated condition, only at a distance of 1 km., the famous Barunei Hill situates only at a short distance creating a natural scenic beauty. It is connected to Bhubaneswar, the capital of the State by Bus & Train Routes.
The College started initially as Arts College for Women with permission for +2 (CHSE) and subsequently the degree classes were opened in 1983-84 and got permanent affiliation of Utkal University in 1989-90 of the Commerce in +2 has opened with 32 seats. The college imparts teaching facility in +2 & +3 for subjects such as English, Oriya, Pol. Science, Economically, Home Science, Education, Psychology, History & Music Honours teaching are available in Oriya, Home Science, Education & Psychology.
In spite of usual sanctioned strength of both +2 & +3 stream respectively as 256 and 384, the College has an enrolled strength of the Session.
The college has maintained a commendable position in respect of teaching, learning and discipline due to commitment and worthwhile contribution of the enterprising principles, Staff, the member of the G.B. timely Cooperation of the enlightment Public. This Institution focuses on the ideals of education, discipline and a meaningful life at larga. The members of the Staff strike hard to awaken among the Strength a sense of awareness of moral & spiritual values of life for the over all development of body, Soul and mind, which is termed as complete education and first president of India.
The instill a sense of Community work or group activities specially in social life in the minds of Students, the College runs for NSS Unit & Redcross Unit under the guidance of coordinates. Students undertake a lot of programmes beneficial to rural people regularly specificially on Education, Health & Social Awareness.
The College library comprises 7000 books along with gaurds and with a reading room attached to it. The Library is now under computerization process. There is also a proposal of computerizing the Establishment, Admission, Accounts & Examination in near future.
The College is accredited Grade 'B' by NAAC Per team visit in 2006. The College has celebrated its silver jubilee in 2005-06
